Pigment on mulberry paper and c-stands
Drawings for Disappearing Notes is the result of notating my vocal and gestural rituals to, in turn, facilitate the movement and participation of these materials in the creation process, producing patterns, strokes, colors, and fuzziness congealed between the translucent and the opaque. As the interconnectedness of the materials and myself are manifested in symbiotic movement and gestures, the drawings stand in pause, silently reverberating until they are reiterated through the abstracted sounds of singing voices. Activated by my notation drawings, the Sorikkun (a folk singer in Korea) sings condensed melodies, bending the notes of folk songs that contemporary people can no longer vocalize.
